Sandberg Instituut Open Day 2026We are pleased to invite you to the annual Open Day of Rietveld Academie and Sandberg Instituut taking place on Friday, January 30 2026. The open day is your chance to visit the entire campus, meet staff and current students, join a guided tour, and check out the workshops, facilities, and department spaces of both the BA and MA programmes.

About
Visitors interested in master's programmes are welcome to visit the studios of the main departments: Critical Studies, Design, Dirty Art Department, Fine Arts, and Studio for Immediate Spaces; current temporary programmes Lumbung Practice and Monstrous Futurities; and learn about our new temporary programme, Phantom Scores.
There will be plenty of activations and happenings throughout the day, including a shop, with current students selling their works; a full-day programme by Unsettling Rietveld/Sandberg with music and talks about DEI and community life with student groups such as Queer Nights and Black Joy Club; and a chance to check out the equipment and softwares available at the Medialab and other workshop and studio spaces.
At the Theory Stairs (FedLev Building), we are hosting live presentations and talks about the different courses and things happening in the school. For those joining remotely, these presentations will be live-streamed and recorded. The live-stream will be broadcast from this platform (open.sandberg.nl), and the online Q&As can be joined by clicking the links in the timetable below. Scroll down to view the full programme.

About Sandberg Instituut
As the postgraduate programme of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, the Sandberg Instituut offers master's degrees in Fine Arts & Design and Interior Architecture through the main (permanent) departments of Critical Studies, Design, Dirty Art Department, Fine Arts, and Studio for Immediate Spaces. In addition, each year a new Temporary Programme is launched reflecting on a specific urgency or theme in society and the arts.
Through all its departments, Sandberg Instituut aims to expand and deepen the practices of artists and designers while also welcoming students with backgrounds in other fields and disciplines. It offers a uniquely small-scale, open and interdisciplinary environment which nurtures critical inquiry and reflection intertwined with diverse and experimental approaches to practice.
